Taking a Closer Look

The Sparrow Health System Compliance Plan was developed to provide guidance to all Associates in carrying out daily activities in an ethical and legal manner. Sparrow’s Compliance Plan was adopted ten years ago (May, 1998) to facilitate and ensure compliance within the Health System. Key aspects of the plan are:

  • Standards of Conduct and Associate Responsibilities under the plan;
  • A Compliance Hotline to raise questions and report instances of possible non-compliance; as well as a Non-Retaliation Policy for reporting;
  • Health System Compliance Policies and Procedures;

False Claims Act Policy

  • Education of Sparrow Associates regarding this plan and related policies;
  • Auditing and monitoring efforts by Sparrow Associates and external consultations.
  • Identification of a Compliance Officer, Compliance Committees and Compliance Staff;
  • Process Improvement Plans to correct system/process issues or address compliance concerns;
  • Enforcement of the plan through education and disciplinary action;
  • Development of Departmental and Affiliate Compliance Plans that address specific compliance risks in these areas.
